A: Mommy, make my boo boo go away.
M: I can't make it go away, sweetie. It just takes time.
A: Time will make it go away?
M: Yes.
The next morning...
A: My boo boo is still here. The clock needs to take it away.

Austin's Ad-libs
Austin went back to school today for the first time in nearly a week. Apparently, he needed a little reassurance when I picked him up.
A: Mommy! I thought Daddy was picking me up.
M: Will Mommy do?
A: Yes.
A: (cradles my face between his hands and turns me to look at him) Mommy, do you like me?
M: I love you!
A: Mommy, do you think I'm very great?
M: I think you are very, very great!
A: Mommy! I thought Daddy was picking me up.

Austin's Ad-libs
Funny things Austin has been overheard saying:
A: (runs into the kitchen and exclaims) Don't be ridikalous!
A: (playing with a toy) You've got to be kidding me!
M: Austin, do you know what we are going to do?
A: YES!
M: What are we going to do?
A: I don't know.
(this conversation takes place with a variety of questions. Do you know what we are going to eat? Do you know what I'm thinking? Do you know where we are going?)
A: I want to go upside down again.
D: Daddy's old.
A: You're not old.
D: I. LOVE. YOU.
(as if we questioned that)
A: You watch it. I'm don't like that magic stuff.
(even funnier because we have no idea where he got this)
A: Tick Tock (the croc), do you want to come over here and see the most perfect animals?
(takes the croc to his animal box to show off)
A: Do you want a little bit?
M: No, I want too much.
A: You can eat a little bit first. And then you can get some more.
A: There are lots of leaves. There are 75 leaves.
(now where does a 2 year old come up with a number like 75?)
A: (runs into the kitchen and exclaims) Don't be ridikalous!

My First Easter Eggs
I decorated my Easter Eggs all by myself...with a little oversight by Mommy. I put on the stickers by myself. For some reason, Mommy didn't think it was such a great idea to try to crack open the blue egg. I was just trying to be proactive.

Austin's "Ah"d-libs
After a few months in Savannah, TN, Austin has started replacing his long I sounds with "ah" sounds. Here is a sample of a few recent comments.
A: Mah Iah.
M: Your what?
A: Iah. Something is in there.
M: Your eye?
A: Yeah...my iah.
A: Mah Pahrates.
M: Yes, those are your pirates.
A: The laht is braht.
M: You want me to turn off the light?
A: Yeah. It's braht in my iahs.
A: Mah Iah.

Austin's Ad-libs
A: Mommy, I want a hamburger from McDonalds.
M: We aren't at McDonalds, baby. We are almost home.
A: I want to go to McDonalds.
M: McDonalds is so far away.
A: Your car can go so far away.
A: Your car can go so far away to McDonalds.
A: I want my Batman.
M: I just saw your Batman, but I don't see him anymore. I don't know where he went.
A: That is very interesting.
A: Those aren't soldiers, Mommy. They are Army Men.
And because Dallas told me to put this on the blog...and perhaps to show you a little about my brainpower these days. We were brainstorming some ideas for the business. I thought of something really great, so I called Dallas to amaze him. Just as the phone started ringing, I realized it was the exact same idea we had discussed the night before.
D: Hello
W: Never mind. I thought I had a brainstorm, but I realized I just have a headache.

M: We are going to go to Sassy's tomorrow.
A: No, I don't want to go tomorrow. I want to go now.
M: We are going to Sassy's tomorrow, and you are going to stay with her for a few days. Won't that be fun?
A: (pause)
A: I might miss you.

Austin's Ad-libs
Austin has started to present logical arguments. Here are a few of the conversations I've had with him recently.
A: We need to go to the grocery store.
M: No, we don't need to go to the grocery store.
A: Yes we do. We need some food.
M: We have food at home, baby.
A: No we DON'T. We are all out of food.
M: No, we have fo...
A: We DON'T have food. I ate it ALL gone.
Austin was playing with some Lincoln logs and his horse on the changing table.
M: Don't throw those sticks in the floor.
A: Proceeds to drop each one of the Lincoln logs and slants a look at me.
M: Austin, I told you not to drop those sticks.
A: I didn't drop them. Little Red (the horse) dropped them.
M: Austin, don't throw your legos. (as they crash to the ground and scatter).
A: I didn't throw them. They just crashed.
(This was some time ago...just before Christmas)
A: Carry me.
M: Austin, my arms are full. I can't carry you. You have to walk.
A: I can't walk. Carry me.
M: Yes, you can walk. Come on.
A: I can't. My tootsies don't work.
