This is the conversation I had tonight with my TWO YEAR OLD when he got his comb out of the drawer.
A: Mommy, I'm going to comb your hair longer and longer.
M: OK.
A: I'm combing it just like you do.
A: It won't hurt right now, Mommy.
A: It will later.
M: That's unfortunate.
A: I'm making you into a true princess, Mommy.
M: (as Austin sits back and looks at me) Is it pretty?
A: (staring critically) Not quite. Just a minute, Mommy, I need to check something. (Goes around to the back of my head and starts combing.)
A: I just need to check something, Mommy.
M: OK.
A: There. I made you into a true princess.
A: Now I need to comb my gorilla's hair.
